Holographic Flakes Nail Glitter Powder

Hello folks! I’m back with some more reviews for you, this time for a new company called BeautyBigBang. They are based in Singapore, and supply various beauty and nail art goodies worldwide. They have very kindly asked me to review a selection of nail art products for them, so I’ll quit rambling and get on to the first!

Holographic Flakes

The website title for this item is ‘0.2g/Box Chameleon Nail Powder Holographic Flakes Laser Glitter Nail Art Decoration’ which is quite a mouthful! What you actually get is this little pot of sparkles:

There are 6 colours available, I’m reviewing 2C which is a blue-purple mix (product code J2419-2C).

This is another version of the holo/chrome/mermaid powders that are so popular right now, and is supposed to be rubbed in to a no-wipe UV gel top coat. Unfortunately, I don’t own any no-wipe gel stuff. I searched the internet a bit for another solution, and hit across someone using peel off basecoat as an alternative, so that’s what I’ve used.

I’ve reused my Tonic mani, as these powders always look better over a dark base. I simply applied a coat of Beautybigbang, and waited for it to dry.

Once the RFT was dry, I used the little applicator to dab the powder onto a small area of my nails, and then rub it in to get a smooth application. It took several dab & rubs per nail to get full coverage. Once I was happy, I sealed it all with a layer of topcoat.

Using a peel off base coat for this powder seemed to work quite well, the powder stuck to it and application was fairly easy, albeit a touch messy, but that’s glitter for you. However – this is not a long lasting solution! The powder popped off my nails within 24hrs, and I was left with just the base colour. Obviously, this shouldn’t happen if you use gels.

The holo effect in this powder seemed quite subtle, though there wasn’t much sun around at the time I did these nails. The little dark patches you can see in the pics are holographic flakies which are also in the mix.

The Holographic Flakes are available from BeautyBigbang, and is currently £2.77 for a 0.2g pot, which should be enough for several full manis.

BeautyBigBang ship worldwide for free, and delivery takes between 2-4 weeks. My order took exactly two weeks to arrive.
