I applied these in the exact same way I did the chameleon holo flakes. I started with a black base, and then painted a coat of Yellow Stopper. Once it was almost completely dry, I used the applicator that came with the mirror pigment to gently rub it onto the surface of my nails. In this case, the pigment didn’t provide quite as opaque a layer, so I added a second coat of Yellow Stopper and a second layer of pigment.
As you can see, the result is a reflective mirror chrome look. Although this pigment is described as rose gold, to me it was more of a coppery colour (and no less gorgeous for that!)Just to see what would happen, I added a regular top coat:
As you can see, it really messes with the finish. While the colour is still pretty, it doesn’t look so smooth any more and the mirrored chrome look is gone.
This one is definitely better without a regular top coat! I’m sure gel would work fine (but the whole point of using Yellow Stopper instead of a gel base is to avoid the annoyance of gel), or a water based top coat, which I still haven’t gotten around to getting!
